Overview

The Assistant Tax Manager will assist the Tax Manager in managing a small team of staff, oversee the operations of the team, and ensure the accuracy and successful delivery of regulatory and tax products and services to clients. This will involve reviewing and resolving technical and operational issues before the delivery of products to clients. You will be responsible for liaising with clients to ensure their needs are being satisfied and to participate in discussing industry related and technical topics with them. It will also be important to develop strong relationships with internal divisions of the company and to manage special projects and assignments. You will be responsible for risk management and participating in increasing product offerings and new business with a view to increasing revenue streams.

Your role will see you responsible for the following products and services:



  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Reporting


  • Taxable Income Calculations


  • Distribution Reporting Package


  • 45 Day Holding Period Rule / Carve Out Reporting


  • TOFA Reporting


  • Income Tax Return (ITR) preparations


  • After Tax Performance Reporting


  • Business Activity Statements


  • ABS, ASX, APRA Returns (preferable but not a pre-requisite – on job training provided)


  • Financial Statements (preferable but not pre-requisite – on job training provided)




  • Regulatory or Taxation financial services experience – in particular investment trusts and superannuation funds


  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in accounting, legal, financial markets, custody or other relevant work area


  • Near completion/completed CPA or CA or other relevant qualification


  • Strong accounting standards or tax technical knowledge and its application to investment funds, including the ability to answer client and external auditor/advisor’s queries with minimal assistance


  • Strong time management and communication skills


  • Ability to work under pressure to meet varying deadlines and work volumes


  • Strong management skills and the ability to work in a team environment


  • Strong project management skills or experience


  • Confident in making decisions autonomously and taking initiative
