Responsible for / Support financial controllership for HK entities, which includes financial reporting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, audit & taxation, liquidity & funding management and other finance-related matters which are properly prepared and controlled based on parent bank’s policies and methodologies as well as local statutory requirements.

Mandate

Responsible for / Support financial controllership for HK entities, which includes financial reporting, regulatory reporting, management reporting, audit & taxation, liquidity & funding management and other finance-related matters which are properly prepared and controlled based on parent bank’s policies and methodologies as well as local statutory requirements.

The candidate will work together with LOB, technology and operation teams to support the roll-out of new products and system integration & upgrade in Hong Kong from a finance perspective.  This involves determining the accounting flows, identifying the financial & regulatory reporting requirements, mapping of chart of accounts, performing UATs, automation of financial & regulatory reports, etc. to ensure the integrity of financial results and reports.

The incumbent will provide support on the performance measurement, business results analysis, planning/budgeting and other tasks related to management reporting. He/she will also handle the ad-hoc requests from local regulators, internal & external stakeholders and other finance counterparts.

 

Knowledge and Skills

a) Knowledge:

  • University degree or above, major in Accounting / Finance or related area
  • CPA or equivalent designation is a must.  CFA or other professional designation is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of banking and accounting related experience
  • Sound knowledge of local and international GAAP
  • Solid knowledge of local regulatory reporting requirements
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of local banking industry and tax requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of process and/or project management
  • Basic understanding of internal business partners’ business operations, services and organization

b) Skills:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good problem solving and learning skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to deal with multiple commitments / deadlines
  • Strong analytical and organizing skills
  • Good command of both written and spoken English 
  • Excellent PC and MS Office skills

Accountabilities (Description) 

  1. Financial and Regulatory Reporting
  • Maintain proper accounting records for Hong Kong branch and subsidiaries, in accordance with the bank’s standard policies & procedures and local statutory requirements.
    • Responsible for accurate and timely submission of all financial, management and Head Office regulatory reports as required by Head Office.
    • Responsible for accurate and timely submission of all local regulatory returns, financial statements and local tax returns to local regulators & authorities.
    • Assist in local statutory audit, local regulators’ audit, local government inspection and Head Office inspection
  • Communicate with different stakeholders to understand any changes in the product/business environment and provide advice on accounting treatments, taxation & regulatory requirements etc.
  1. Financial Management and Reporting
  • Monitor monthly operating results against plan and perform in-depth analysis on business results
  • Assist in planning/budgeting and management reporting related tasks
  • Communicate with different stakeholders to understand any changes in the product/business environment and provide advice on financial control requirements
  1. Liquidity and Funding Management

·         Prepare liquidity reports and ensure its compliance with the bank’s policies and local statutory requirements

·         Responsible for maintaining adequate controls on liquidity ratios management of the branch, in accordance with the bank’s policies and local statutory requirements

·         Closely work with the treasury desk and stakeholders to understand the implication to overall liquidity and funding management in supporting business growth

  1. Strategic Initiatives
  • Provide support to finance-related projects
  • Support system integration & upgrade, which includes mapping of chart of accounts, performing UATs, automation of financial & regulatory reports etc, in order to ensure financial results are reflected accurately in the system and reports are generated in accordance to the reporting requirements
