Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Financial Crime Compliance Manager, Global Banking and Markets .

Principal responsibilities

  • Primarily to support the Senior Financial Crime Compliance Manager Global Banking and Markets, Asia Pacific to maintain an effective Anti Money Laundering control framework and discharge the Financial Crime Compliance responsibilities for Financial Institution Group, Global Banking and Markets to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws and regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices relating to Anti Money Laundering or Sanctions.
  • Additional responsibilities include the provision of advice on Financial Crime Compliance issues and liaison with senior line and local management in planning how Financial Crime Compliance should be managed, operate and function in order to serve management and business needs.
  • The primary accountability is implemented by the need to conduct compliance reviews in order to determine the effectiveness and performance of compliance activities across the region, which will involve Financial Crime Compliance related monitoring, reporting and certification, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
  • The role needs to liaise with and support the country Financial Crime Compliance Global Banking and Markets and other key stakeholders including regulatory compliance, legal, risks, onboarding functions and other Global Banking and Markets work stream to ensure processes are coordinated and implementation risks and issues are considered and addressed.
  • Successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required


Qualifications
Requirements
  • A university degree, preferably legal or with some legal content plus a minimum of years experience in a financial services group operation with particular experience on money laundering or sanctionsor compliance or audit, risk management or controls and or external regulations.
  • Experience with Global Banking and Markets related businesses and a good knowledge of related products and services.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the jobholder will have to work in coordination with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy.
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators.
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and or data and provide succinct summary for management.
  • Experience of working within a matrixed environment preferred
