Job Description

CUSTOMER:
• Collaborates with executive sponsor and members of the senior executive team to establish vision and aligns the portfolio with the strategic and tactical direction of the business
• Engages executive sponsor and relevant business leaders to ensure active participation on project / program / portfolio initiatives
• Facilitates business meetings with senior stakeholders and executives to support successful and timely delivery of projects and programs within the assigned Portfolio
• Establishes effective project / program / portfolio oversight and other governance bodies, and engages the appropriate levels to support the direction for the project / program / portfolio
• Establishes on-going influence on relationships with key stakeholders across LoBs as appropriate given the assigned Portfolio
• Provides advice and guidance to appropriate partners and project / program / portfolio teams as required regarding best practices in project management
• Applies Organizational Change Management principles and practices in order to effectively manage the people side of change (e.g., stakeholder analysis, business process management, people readiness, sustainment planning, etc.)
• Communicates project / program / portfolio summary, status, financials, etc. to appropriate senior executives at the Bank
• Accountable for ensuring that customer / stakeholder implications have been assessed and managed appropriately
• Builds strategic partnerships to define business case and design and implement changes for people, process and technology to ensure quality and sustained business outcomes
• Ensures clarity is provided to key stakeholders regarding their roles and responsibilities
• Applies judgment by making pragmatic decisions, in the context of enterprise and LoB objectives

SHAREHOLDER:
• Oversees the delivery of project / program / portfolio and owns outcomes that are aligned to established cost, timing, deliverable and scope objectives
• Oversees the delivery of multiple concurrent programs, consisting of projects spanning across all Project Tiers
• Owns overall accountability for managing risk across the portfolio and oversees the identification, tracking and mitigation plans of project risk on an aggregated / consolidated portfolio basis, providing an understanding of trending within the portfolio (i.e., risk related to technology, change management, procurement, business process management, requirements management)
• Ensures the strategic direction of the portfolio aligns with that of the business
• Initiates activities within the context of achieving strategic business objectives
• Aligns the project / program risk and business operational risk to ensure all are understood in the context of the portfolio
• Monitors and oversees large scale programs with high levels of risk exposure, impacting stakeholders across all LoBs
• Owns overall accountability for managing risk across the portfolio
• Oversees enterprise gating and governance controls to ensure the overall portfolio meets all the performance, quality and compliance standards and conforms to appropriate methodology
• Evaluates detailed portfolio status reports and presents key highlights and related implications to senior executives and key stakeholders

Requirements

EMPLOYEE TEAM:
• May manage multiple cross-LoB Project and Program Managers and / or additional project resources, consisting of Business Analysts, Requirements SMEs, Business SMEs and Technology Resources where applicable to the project / program / portfolio
• Develops employees to ensure sustainable delivery capability
• Provides advice and counsel to project teams, program resources and business partners
• Coaches, leads and mentors team members and provides regular performance assessments
• Ensures effective on boarding and off boarding programs are in place for project resources
• Oversees multiple projects / programs aligned to portfolio, external vendors, project managers and consultants across multiple businesses
• Allocates resources across portfolio to ensure successful and timely delivery
• Oversees succession planning to ensure there is a strong pipeline of talent to progress through levels
• Champions project management training curriculum and works closely with key partners to develop and deliver necessary programs
• Identifies stretch opportunities and on the job experience opportunities for team members
• Makes an impact by getting things done, focusing on what matters, owning and delivering superior results for all stakeholders in both the short and long-term
• Fosters an environment of continuous learning, including the sharing of experience and learning across team members and partners as appropriate

BREADTH & DEPTH
• Manages portfolios with a moderate to high level of regulatory oversight
• Oversees overall aggregate portfolio financials, benefit realization analysis for a fairly large portfolio of programs / projects
• Manages overall portfolio budget
• Oversees a portfolio comprised of multiple concurrent projects / programs, including IT, generally up to and including projects at the Tier 2 level with a moderately high to high complexity profile
• May on occasion lead the delivery of up to Tier 1 projects / programs
• Directly manages a team or Program / Project Managers to ensure talent needs and capabilities are developed to support long term goals for the unit
• Provides strategic guidance to business / functional leaders to ensure escalated concerns or regulatory or governance related portfolio issues are appropriately managed
• Generally reports to Portfolio Executive responsible for leading a Project / Program or Portfolio Management Office for a Business Segment or Corporate function (e.g. TDS, Retail, Wealth, Insurance, Risk, Finance, LoB TS)
