Job Description

In this role within TRMIS, reporting to the AVP, Project delivery, you will be responsible for contributing to business / technology projects with focus on governance methodology execution and reporting. The project control lead role encompasses relationships (internal and external to the PMO); liaises with other departments performing financial management; provides coaching and support to project managers while partnering with key stakeholders and management across the portfolio. Ability to work in a fast moving PMO to assist in coordination of multiple life cycle deliverables is a key attribute.


The job requires an independent candidate with excellent communication, leadership and prioritization skills. Detail focused, stakeholder and team management skills rounded out with a financial background are key attributes.

Project Governance

• Solid experience with PMO best practices, tools and processes

• Assist/guide project managers in completion of key project artefacts throughout the project lifecycle

• Consolidation of RAID log activities, review and updated for Tier 3 / 4 projects that have multiple work streams

• Management of EDPE compliance score card for milestones, business case commitments

• Ensure all projects have a Return to Green plan in project tracking

• Tracks all change requests for metrics support

• Collaborate with various groups to ensure project portfolio data is accurate and any variances are corrected

• Understands, applies and educates others on the processes and templates published by the Enterprise Program Office (EDPE)

• Participate in meetings to determine progress of work and identify additional follow up needs.

• High attention to detail with good organizational skills (set up / structure of project repositories)

• Strong communication skills - Written / Oral

• Portfolio reporting (standard / ad hoc requests)

Project Financials

• Support project managers on project business case financial template projection (FTP) review to ensure financial behavior is consistent and being followed accurately

• Ensure all projects have submitted the forecast accurately based on actuals and ETC

• Conduct variance analysis against previous forecast to current actuals combined with an ability to highlight forecast risks and opportunities; analytics and recommendations on project course correction as appropriate

• Conduct Clarity (Time Tracking) resource forecasting vs actuals with biweekly follow up with project resource teams on their ability to remain within parameters

• Consolidate and submit professional service accruals against in-flight projects

• Detailed tracking to ensure no planned invoices get extended past enterprise deadlines for quarter / fiscal year end accrual

• Standardization of key project financial templates (resource, cost estimation etc.) and consolidate resource demands across the portfolio

• Consolidate Portfolio Metric calculations for defined PMO metrics

• Ability to perform executive driven ad hoc financial analysis against specific project, programs or across portfolio and clearly articulate results with recommendations

• Ability to take complex financial scenarios, translate down to root cause to help 'paint the story' for senior management

• Monitor resource forecasting, other non-people cost to ensure that project funds and project forecasts are comparable

Job Skills:

• Have 3-5 years' experience of working in a Project / Project Governance environment

• Strong task management (ensure milestones are met and control procedures are followed)

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to solicit cooperation and resolve conflict

• SharePoint administration skills

• Advanced Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project

• Interpersonal skills and strong team-player

• Highly adaptive outlook with a willingness to work in ambiguous situations

• Demonstrates strong personal initiative and self-motivation

• Knowledge of Project Management Framework

• Experience working in a large organization with stakeholders, enforcing and evolving existing processes, building consensus and facilitating decisions
