Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- More than 5 years of experience on international commercial business (import and export) or domestic products trading business including dealings with refineries and downstream customers.
- 4 years’ experience on commodity trading and operations
- Knowledge of China domestic supply and demand, pricing regulations and product flows.
- Familiar with Chinese refineries and downstream counterparties
- Knowledge of storage, terminals, logistics, finance, accounting and risk management preferable
- Able to be flexible and capable to work under pressure
- English and Local language good in both oral and written
- IT skills, spreadsheet skills essential
- Self-motivated to generate new business and deliver PnL as an individual, plus working as team member to grow China’s energy business.
- Good communicator/influencing skills, need to build up strong connections with Chinese majors/teapots and downstream main products outlet customers.
- Flexible on travels and customer meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day trading, buying and selling to third parties, maximising profit margin.
- Managing risk exposure – manage any possible volatility of the market structure.
- Developing new business strategies.
- Contacting/visiting suppliers and receivers to collect information and develop new deals on import and export business
- Maintaining customers’ relationship
- Liaising with head office / other branches for the booking of new deals
- Liaising with Financing / Risk control department for new customers set up internally and getting relative information from new customers
- Allocating short & long positions in mainland China.
- Handling the pricing with Customers
- Keep eyes on the pricing exposures
- Supervising traffics’ operations and help to solve problems which they are not able to solve
- Training traffics in their daily operations, how to think logically and execute contracts, liaising with customers/agents in the best way
