Millennium Global is recruiting for its Paris office a Macroeconomist to join the Portfolio Management Research team and assist the Paris Head of Risk in market risk analysis. Its unique discretionary investment approach combines in-depth macroeconomic analysis, to identify the underlying drivers of currency pairs, and continuous monitoring of financial markets for the timing of entering and exiting trades.



The Economist will contribute to our macroeconomic and currency research and provide support to the discretionary portfolio management team.  Specifically, the Economist will:
• Provide in-depth and timely macro analysis and views for a set of developed and/or emerging economies
• Monitor economic data, political events and structural issues for countries under coverage
• Create and maintain econometric models and other analytical tools to forecast macroeconomic trends, interest rates and currencies
• Provide macro-economic input and rationale for currency views under the guidance of the Head of Economics and Strategy
• Interact with other research analysts, Portfolio Managers and the business development team
• Participate in daily portfolio management meetings, weekly macro views meeting and quarterly strategy meetings
• Contribute to the quarterly outlook publication, thematic notes and research papers for investors
• As Risk Manager of the French entity of Millennium Global and under the responsibility of the Paris Head of Risk, use and adapt the risk calculation systems in place at Millennium Global to monitor client portfolios in the EU

• A PhD in macroeconomics/international economics with a strong academic background in statistics/econometrics
• Interest in financial markets, in particular currencies
• Ability to organise efficiently and to analyse economic and financial data under tight deadlines
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and experience in applied econometrics/statistics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability and desire to work in a team structure
