AVP - Business Risk Senior Analyst (Hong Kong or Singapore based)
Job Purpose:

Individual will be a risk manager in the APAC Equities in-business risk team (IBR), responsible for counterparty credit risk management and other risk governance items in the region:
  • First line of defense in risk managing credit risk.
  • Scope of products includes Prime Brokerage, Delta One, Futures, FX Prime Brokerage, OTC Clearing and Equity Cash.
  • Understanding credit risks being taken within Equities and making those risks transparent to senior management and control functions.
  • Evolving the risk framework and other risk governance items to ensure a proper control environment.
  • Client engagement through-out the lifecycle of a client.

Job Background / Context:
  • APAC IBR team is a part of and works closely with the global IBR team, with product and risk expertise across the Equity product suite. This role will report in to the APAC IBR team and will be strongly aligned with the global IBR team initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily review of client risks.
  • High level of engagement with Sales, Trading and other members of the business.
  • Thoughtful and complete risk analysis with the intention of discussing risk concerns internally within the business and with control function partners.
  • Formulate views around product risk appetite and be able to review and challenge business stakeholders risk "asks".
  • Identifying and escalating risks - credit, market, operational or legal - to senior members within in-business risk.
  • Facilitating new client trades and existing portfolio exposures to ensure that risks, primarily market driven by counterparty risk and liquidity risk, but also documentation, legal and reputational risks are controlled.
  • Establish limit structures/controls and processes to ensure that clients operate within limits.
  • Perform regular risk reviews incorporating counterparty and liquidity risk measures, including scenario stress testing and sensitivity analysis, as well as adequacy of margin collected from clients.
  • Work closely with Credit risk management on onboarding new clients, sizing appropriate limits and escalating issues with existing clients.
  • Create, maintain, update and ensure full compliance with In Business Risk Procedures manual and other credit / risk policies.
  • Analyze portfolios and businesses, (with a focus on counterparty and liquidity risk), to ensure the risks are being properly measured and controlled in accordance with the firm's risk policies.
  • Help produce and maintain client risk reports for consumption by independent risk and senior product stakeholders.
  • Working with partners in global IBR and credit risk, develop and utilize models for accurate measurement of clients' overnight exposure using VaR, scenario stress testing, sensitivities and liquidation costs.
  • Prioritize risk management product development requirements with partners in product development and IT.


  • The ideal candidate will have experience in one of the products under the Equities suite and be familiar with the typical risks managed by the first line of defence function.
  • Alternatively, someone with a market risk or counterparty credit risk experience is a plus.

  • The ideal candidate will bring an analytical approach to evaluating and addressing the issues that come up from a day to day perspective.
  • Attention to detail, effective written/verbal communication, ability to prioritize across multiple priorities are key skills that will aid the candidate well.
  • Given the global nature of the role, the ability to work well with cross-functional teams from Product, Sales, Credit, Operations and Compliance.
  • Ability to maintain a balance of risk and reward to facilitate business growth while effectively managing risk.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and re-engineer processes, looking for ways to do things more efficiently and effectively
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and analyzing data; Experience in (or the ability to pick up programming in) VBA, SQL and Python is desirable.
