Investment Analyst, North Asia

Company Description 

Our client, a reputable international asset management company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investment Analyst with focus on North Asia, particularly Korea and Taiwan. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fundamental research on companies in the region, generating investment ideas and making recommendation to portfolio managers.

Responsibilities 

• Conduct in-depth fundamental research on equities in the North Asia region, with a focus on Taiwan and Korea on various sectors, but with a focus on IT
• Generate investment ideas and recommendations to portfolio managers
• Heavily involved in portfolio construction decision across all Asia equities strategies, particularly in reference to Korea and Taiwan markets
• Monitor news, events, and development in the North Asia region that may impact the companies under coverage
• Attend company meetings and industry conferences to gather information and insight on the companies under coverage
• Regularly communicate research findings and investment recommendations to the portfolio management, including both written reports and verbal presentations

Requirements 

• University degree in Finance / Accounting related disciplines. MBA / CFA or similar qualification is well-regarded
• 5+ years of experience in analyzing companies, either buy side (long only or hedge funds) or sell-side. Prior experience in covering Korea / Taiwan equity markets, with particular focus on IT sector and small/mid cap 
• Strong analytical skills and experience conducting thorough fundamental research on companies
• Believer in merits of fundamental research, and proven ability to generate investment ideas / recommendations that have resulted in outperformance
• Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken English & Chinese, and ability to read and understand Korean preferred
• Demonstrated passion for investing and a strong interest in North Asia region
