We are seeking for a stand-out candidate based in Hong Kong to participate in the growth and transformation journey of Financial Market Operations which comprise of the Securities Service Operations.
The individual will report to the Hong Kong head of financial market operations, the role is multifaceted and dynamic with primary responsibilities to drive implementations of the operating model across the business and operations, requiring ongoing partnership with multiple parties across the organization, internal and external clients and the wider industry such as Hong Kong Exchange.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design operating model where custody activities can be delivered timely in accordance with clients' instructions and the rules laid down in the Departmental Operating Instruction Manual.
  • Resolve problematic transactions on operations and proactively work closely with internal and external parties such as counterparties and the central depository to pre-empt potential service level issues.
  • Manage and avoid risks to client, Bank / Group by ensuring prompt and accurate reporting to clients / management, timely rectification and / or monitoring of any discrepancies including shares rejection.
  • Manage and supervise daily custody activities and ensure all instruction from clients are timely and efficiently executed, complied with the requirement of the Securities and Futures Ordinance.
  • Ensure proper risk management control of daily operational matter, resolve business problems and irregular items including audit inspections.
  • Comply with the Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and be alert at all times to unusual or possibly suspicious customer's activities.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the line manager as well as Country Money Laundering Prevention Officer if considered necessary.
  • Participate in client and industry forum meetings and be the custody subject matter expert in contributing to the discussion.
  • Support business development and client implementations, adopt digital tools to improve automation processing rate.
  • Play a governance duty on hub's activities, ensure support regional custody business efficiently.
  • Implement client requirements in custody team and ensure services standard achieved.
  • Develop internal procedures and controls for avoid operational risk and financial loss.

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the Hong Kong Financial Market Operation Governance team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment].
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

  • Front Office (Relationship Managers, Sales, Trading, Products)
  • Global Operations,sTechnology, Audit, Legal and Compliance.
  • COOs and Operations Risk team
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience, ideally with a range of core operation processing expertise in Securities Products and custodian service.
  • Proven team leadership capabilities with a strong emphasis on engagement, client satisfaction, culture, risk, control, and governance.
  • Strong understanding of relevant and up to date technical knowledge, applications, techniques and changing regulatory environment and its impacts on operations in the Hong Kong markets.
  • Excellent project management skills and a proven track record of implementing change.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Mandarin and Cantonese language ability beneficial.
  • Experience of digital tools and data management.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • FM - Products - FX, Rates and Equities
  • Custody - Hong Kong settlement in CMU and CCASS
  • Fund of Funds processing
