Our client is a renowned and leading life insurance company across the world. They are hiring a Strategic Planning Director to join their team to support the identification, development and implementation of material / transformational / new- to-group strategies and initiatives across the company, at both Group and local business unit level. This person will support the business strategy leadership by providing data, analysis and recommendations that will guide key decisions and ensure those have a sound strategic, operational, market and financial grounding.
Job Responsibilities:
Support Director of Group Strategy to establish a market leading internal strategic management and business consultancy COE for the Group to reduce use of external advisors and consultants.
Support, manage and challenge the strategy development approach around what will support long-term superior and sustainable growth for the LBUs Assess key-to-Group strategies and their fit with the overall Group ambitions.
Liaise closely with key stakeholders across functional areas and within LBUs to provide early support in developing long-term vision around the likely evolution of our existing markets and competitive landscape. Analyse critical trends that will impact our business; to drive cohesive strategic view of the business; synthesize analysis to deliver key insights to support proactive identification and development of material / transformational / ’new-to-group’ strategies and initiatives to the Group
Identify key risks and issues across potential strategies and support the development of risk mitigation solutions working with relevant SMEs within and outside of the Group
Partner with multi-functional teams for the development and/or exploration of key- to-Group strategies by working closely with relevant business team leaders and external consultants
Support and direct the development and maintenance of the strategic plan execution path and measures via performance management (metrics, reviews, initiatives, strategic/tactical reviews and discussions). Identify key metrics, internal/external drivers of success
Work on large strategic or transformation projects that deliver tangible and sustainable results to the business and create innovative strategies to solve key business problems
Take a role in building a collaborative cross-Group approach and leverage best practices across
businesses to improve and accelerate the deployment of strategies, reuse of ideas, and standardization around best-in-class processes / methodologies
Coach and mentor junior members of strategy team, both at Group Office and LBU level, developing their skills and toolset so that they can contribute in a lean, effective fast-moving team
Work closely with team members responsible for market intelligence to evolve and raise the bar across our critical market analysis including market maps, competitor tracking and benchmarking, industry analysis, etc.
Requirement:
Excellent strategic process and strategy development skills developed through 13+ years experience with a top management consultancy or in a strategy role in a blue chip company
Strong intellect, intellectual curiosity and ability to deal with complex and ambiguous situations
Strong finance and analytical skills, for which a Masters Degree in Corporate Finance, Strategy or Business Administration or similar discipline is desirable
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and build trusted relationships with all levels of staff and external contacts
Strong leadership abilities, including ability to lead a multi-functional, multi- national team including both Group employees and third party advisors
Strong presentation skills with the talent to present convincingly and influence diverse audiences on business initiatives and strategies
Ability to prioritise high, fast-changing workload and to work effectively under pressure
Capability and enthusiasm for developing people within the Group Business Strategy and Corporate Transactions team
Experience working across geographic boundaries and cultures
