We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Chief Financial Officer, Malaysia.

Principal responsibilities
  • Full spectrum management of the Finance function including Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, Product Control, Tax, Business Finance and Asset, Liability and Capital Management for HSBC Malaysia
  • Provide strategic decision support to the Chief Executive Officer and the Heads of Group Businesses and Functions to deliver against the Annual Operating Plan
  • Collaborate with the business leadership team to drive business strategies by providing insight to the competitive landscape and challenge the business when required
  • Optimise the Bank's Asset, Liability and Capital Management process for the most efficient deployment of capital and liquidity
  • Minimise risk of loss from exchange and interest rate exposures through effective management of Treasury operations
  • Oversee effective financial controls and safeguard the Bank from losses and fraud
  • Ensure that Bank and Group financial records and reporting are accurate and maintain good investor relations
  • Maintain HSBC's external thought leadership position on accounting, tax and significant regulatory change
  • Act as a key liaison for the Bank with the central bank, regulatory bodies, auditors, investors and rating agencies for HSBC Malaysia
  • Drive the implementation of the Group reporting requirements and local statutory and accounting requirements
  • Plan and promote service culture, teamwork, staff development and training
  • Lead the development of technical, business knowledge, soft-skills and mindset of the Malaysia Finance team
  • Provide management oversight and governance in compliance with Group policies and processes whenever locally applicable within the business

  • Tertiary qualification in business, finance, economics, or related field. Post-graduate accounting or financial qualification preferred
  • Professional accounting or financial qualifications are desirable
  • Demonstrated working ability and knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial markets, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Proven experience managing funding, liquidity and capital risk in a Bank
  • Knowledge in Accounting treatment of Islamic products advantageous
  • Strong leadership, management and strategic thinking skills along with strong influencing skills
  • Good level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact, influence, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
