We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Global Markets Product Control Manager (Valuation Control).

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Leading a team of valuation controllers and overseeing:
  • Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis of Balance Sheet Management (BSM) and Trading desk;
  • Valuation control of vanilla derivatives;
  • Off market rate checking;
  • Analytical review of trader activity;
  • Day 1 P&L analysis;
  • Assist in review and effective implementation of various valuation policies eg Fair Valuation Adjustment, Day 1 P&L, Market Data Control etc.
  • Preparing management reporting and providing support to Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) team for financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Compliance with IFRS9 Hedge Accounting standards
  • Regulatory capital reporting for Global Markets (GM)
2. Plan, coordinate and implement new efficiency initiatives or systems involving Product Control
3. Supporting GM by providing Product Control and finance advice, and carrying out business analysis.
4. Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

  • Possess a degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others and negotiating effectively
  • A good understanding of Treasury products (especially derivatives), and their accounting implications. Having experience in Product Control and/or Treasury Finance is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interacts well with all levels of staff and stakeholders. Experience in leading a team successfully in meeting their objectives is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to deliver within tight deadlines
  • High computer literacy and systems aptitude; must be adept in using Excel. Experience with Treasury systems is an advantage.
