Economics & Investment Strategy Department

GIC’s Economics & Investment Strategy department (EIS) is a team of professionals who work closely with Management, the Board and its committees, and our Clients. EIS helps to determine the Total Portfolio’s strategic outlook and asset allocation over long- and medium- term horizons; and identifies, researches, recommends and initiates appropriate responses on major structural trends that could significantly affect the risk-return profile of the Total Portfolio.

The Director’s Office of EIS oversees the daily operations in running the department successfully and efficiently, supporting the department’s goals and objectives. To continually enhance the capabilities of the team, we are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Director's Office as Business Manager. The Business Manager for EIS will lead and oversee all aspects of operational activities to support the department’s needs while optimizing resources.

•  Manage department budget and finances
•  Implement and support new corporate initiatives, policy reviews and HR engagements
•  Work with Technology and Audit department on compliance and internal controls i.e. data operation risk, information security management and audit processes
•  Manage and maintain business continuity, staff access rights and record retention
•  Manage info-feeds, consultants and corporate subscriptions
•  Disseminate economic reports, academics, working papers to EIS and selected internal recipients
•  Edit and publish economic periodicals (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) to Board and Clients
•  Improve and manage overall business office’s efficiency, team effectiveness and development
•  Build long-lasting partnerships with all investment corporate departments in GIC
•  Organize department-wide business events, e.g. retreats, gatherings, to sustain staff well-being and engagement
•  Oversee secretarial and support team

•  Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in finance, economics, or fund management industry
•  Good tertiary qualifications; economics background/knowledge will be favorably considered
•  Research and project management experience and skills; excellent attention to detail
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills
•  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power-point and Outlook required
•  Flexible and able to work autonomously, but also occasionally under intense deadlines
•  Ability to multi-task, prioritize and be proactive in anticipating the needs of the business
•  Good team player and respected leader; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; encouraging of a collaborative environment
•  Culturally sensitive and able to adapt
•  Strong impact and influencing skills, built on personal style and poise rather than authority
