Commodities P&L Senior Analyst

Refined Search are working with a leading commodities trading house with offices in 13 locations globally including New York, Houston, London, Geneva and Singapore. They are active across Energy, Metals, Environmental Products, Renewables, Ags/Softs and Securities in terms of headcount they currently have circa 700 employees globally. They are looking for experienced Senior P&L Analyst’s to join the team.

We are ideally looking for candidates with experience of Oil and products and/or Gas and Power although the current P&L team are cross trained across all commodity products the company trade. The analyst will be responsible for collaborating with the other team members to accurately and consistently produce daily Profit & Loss reports for each of the commodity products traded by the Company. This role requires strong Commodities product knowledge along with strong quantitative and analytical skills, a high level of attention to detail, and advanced Excel skills.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Reconciliation of daily P&L outs between trader estimate and actual P&L run
  • Provide adhoc PnL summary to traders (including but not limited to mtm-and position change)
  • Publishing daily P&L reports to traders and upper management
  • Accurate trade entry into trading systems for various commodity groups, such as Oil, Natural Gas, Power, Distillates, Ags, Softs, Metals, Steel, etc.
  • Timely trade amendments
  • Preparation of daily price files from multiple sources, such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, Platts, Argus, trader derived marks, etc.
  • Updating/ maintaining trading system reference data, from book reporting structure to instrument creation

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience in a similar role and:

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills are essential
  • You will have strong Excel skills ideally at VBA level, experience of coding is highly desirable
  • Previous experience of creating process enhancements and improvements is essential
  • You will the ability to prortise and manage your workloads
