Corporate Actions Senior Research Analyst (Mandarin Speaking)
The Markit's Corporate Actions (MCA) service is a best-in-class centralised source of validated corporate action announcements for nearly two million equities, fixed income, and structured finance securities across global markets. MCA services customers as a single source that streamlines operations for the collection, validation, and dissemination of corporate actions.
The Markit Corporate Actions Data Strategy and Operations team is responsible for monitoring domestic and international corporate actions announcements from the point of notice of inception and conducting a stringent cleansing process of information received from vendor feeds by researching and enriching to produce validated corporate actions composite records to clients.
The Team has an established presence in London, New York, Singapore, India, and Dallas. Position summary
The Corporate Actions Research Analyst is part of the Singapore local and global leadership team for Markit Corporate Actions Data Strategy and Operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the work process and data quality for the Singapore validation team to ensure that the state of each composite record clearly defines the terms of the corporate action in order for customers to pass notification on to their clients to make investment decisions and to allocate entitlements resulting from the corporate action.
Later the candidate will be responsible for providing training and coaching for the daily quality control process, reviewing productivity and accuracy metrics, and assuring adherence to strict internal and customer-facing SLAs. He/she will work closely with leadership counterparts in other regions in order to uphold global best practices and to collaborate on process improvements and to improve the overall performance of the global analyst team. Duties & accountabilities
- Reviewing corporate action announcements and conducting research to obtain details required to validate and complete announcements for publication of composite records to customers
- Monitor work queues of staff throughout the day to ensure that all work is addressed and completed to meet end of day SLAs
- Responsible for quality control of client-facing data produced by local team
- Utilize various research sources (prospectuses, information circulars, exchange bulletins), including internet search engines and websites to successfully validate the corporate action
- Interface with Domestic and Foreign Paying/Transfer/Information Agents, Vendors, Custodians, Banks, Exchange Officials, and with high ranking Issuer Officers (CFO, CEO), including Legal Counsel to obtain corporate action specifics
- Review daily exception reports; research and resolve exceptions
- Collaborate with global leadership team to design and implement new processes and improvements
- Lead local quality assurance testing and special projects in partnership with Product Services teammates in other locations and with local technology counterparts
- Understand and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and their impact on revenue and operations
Education and experience
Graduate degree/ Post Graduate or equivalent, preferably in Finance, Economics or Business
Fluent in speaking, reading and writing in Mandarin to conduct research and support customers
Relevant work experience in corporate actions, reference data or asset service are preferred.
Knowledge of equities and fixed income required
Knowledge of ISO/Swift feeds is a plus.
Strong research and data mining skills required
Knowledge of Excel, SQL and VBA are preferred.
