About the Role

The Wholesale International Conduct Risk Control Manager is responsible for driving appropriately tailored consistency across Wells Fargo's global business operations, through direct coordination and indirect leadership of the conduct risk control activities performed by the in-region based Regional Business Control Teams in Canada/LATAM, EMEA, and APAC/ANZ. This manager is accountable to both the Wholesale Conduct Risk Control Leader and the International Control Leader for ensuring that the businesses consistently implement the front line conduct risk and corporate risk programs. They will proactively provide aggregated views of conduct risk across the business and guide business leadership on risks, issues and remediation, They will also foster a collaborative environment across the International regions that ensures timely communication and strong cooperation between the front line organization and Independent Risk Management (IRM) under Corporate Risk.

The person in this role will focus on leading the build-out and enhancement of the International Conduct Risk program. This leader will coordinate execution of conduct risk program consistently across three regions and coordinate with WCO Conduct Risk Control Leader and the International Control Leader.

As a visible and key leader, this person will drive cohesive planning and execution of program activities collaborating with all peers within Wholesale. T he successful candidate will work closely with other senior leaders across International and the company in the development and execution of company risk management strategies. Accordingly, critical success factors will include the ability to develop partnerships with many business and functional areas, provide insight into the economic climate and related market developments and identify trends which may present opportunities or reflect gaps in the Company's risk management execution/direction.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks across the Conduct Risk type, in coordination with the supported International businesses and assurance activities consistent with the risk management framework and policies established by IRM.
  • Work closely with the Business Control Leaders to execute and promote a strong risk culture to ensure effective communication and collaborative relationships.
  • Ensure that International strategic plans include the material risk identification and mitigation, and associated activities consistent with the enterprise risk framework and risk appetite statements.
  • Escalate concerns and issues to Wholesale and International Senior Leadership, IRM and Management Committees as appropriate.
  • Work with the Front-line Staff in the Regions to identify gaps in execution of Conduct Risk requirements (OUS and US Requirements) across Wholesale, WIM, PVSI, Consumer, and Staff Support Groups and develop remediation or enhancement requirements.
  • Partner with IRM related to oversight activities and credible challenge.
  • Partner with Wholesale Conduct Risk Control to broaden the view of Conduct Risk programs to ensure a Global program is being executed (not just US / FRB / OCC program.)
  • Monitor and track performance / execution of Conduct Risk Program activity in the Regions.
  • Calibrate the global requirements for Conduct Risk for all Regulators.


Market Skills and Certifications

Requirements
  • Solid experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or proven IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, which must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • Proven management experience

  • A Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Juris Doctor (JD)
