Sr. Compliance Principal- AML & FinTechs
This is a Compliance role advising BNY Mellon's Treasury services business on the Compliance aspects of its expansion into the FinTech & Emerging Payments sector. Advisory areas will include Anti-Money Laundering, Fraud, and other applicable regulatory dimensions.
Responsible primarily for butnot limited to the development of the compliance strategy for the TreasuryServices (global payments/liquidity/correspondent banking/trade). Advises onthe compliance efforts of the business units and may be required to direct thework of more junior professionals. Responsible for assisting the TreasuryServices and other business units by developing strategies to bring them intocompliance with highly complex regulatory and policy requirements that mayinclude designing new and improved, innovative control requirements, policiesand processes. Subject matter expertise required includes familiarity withevolving global payment based innovation and disruption that enable faster andmore transparent transactions. Partners with business unit and keybusiness partners such as Risk and Legal to conduct due diligence on new clientsegments, products and services. In partnership with business unit seniormanagers, may respond to and develop compliance reporting and present reportingto leadership. Based on assessments of controls, advises business units on theimplementation of improvements and the completion of appropriate documentationwhen control changes are made. Directs analyses of existing and proposedlegislation, regulatory announcements and industry practices in order to leadthe assigned businesses in developing and implementing procedures to meetexisting and upcoming requirements. May be required to assign/coordinateanalysis activities to more junior professionals. Contributes to theestablishment of key risks indicators (KRIs) and tracking and reportingmethodologies as part of a standard system of measurement and reporting.Develops projects and programs to improve compliance and enhance the controlenvironment. Directs the assessment of the effectiveness of current riskprevention and mitigation projects to ensure senior managers in the assignedbusiness units are equipped with the education to identify and judge theseverity of risks. Recommends areas and topics where further education isneeded based on assessments and implements approved education activities.Develops the assigned business units' strategy for analyzing control processesto ensure they are in compliance with all applicable laws, rules andregulations. Uses strong industry experience in the global payments andcorrespondent banking space to validate the appropriateness of controlprocesses or direct the development of improvements. Directs the assignedbusiness units in implementing improvements. Provides direct input toprofessionals in the Treasury Services and other businesses to improve theirunderstanding of compliance, control and documentation policies. Uses strongworking relationships with outside regulators, government officials and seniorbusiness unit managers to influence compliance activities across multiplebusiness units, ensure the timely delivery of information and increase thelikelihood of favorable conditions for compliance activities. Leads thedevelopment of training and education for the assigned business units on riskmanagement and compliance requirements. Guides business unit management onappropriate methods for assessing education needs and determining theappropriate materials to be developed. Assigns material development tasks tomore junior professionals. Directs less experienced professionals in assessingthe effectiveness of highly complex controls that help ensure ongoingcompliance with key laws, regulations and policies affecting BNY Mellonbusinesses throughout the world. Prepares and may deliver complex,comprehensive, risk based reviews of existing and emerging global regulatoryrequirements and provides prompt, focused feedback to business management onconcerning issues and control gaps. Independently develops recommendations forcorrective action and issue tracking to ensure resolution efforts proceedtimely and effectively. Prepares highly complex, time sensitive reporting andappropriately escalates issues with a potentially global impact to seniormanagement. Directs event analyses, including confirmed losses, breakdowns incontrol and 'near misses' to identify root causes of the control failures.Contributes to the design and implements approved remedial solutions. No directreports; provides guidance to more junior team members and assigns tasks.Directs the achievement of multiple teams' objectives. Modified based uponlocal regulations/requirements.

Qualifications
Bachelor s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Business or Finance degree preferred. 15-18 years of total work experience preferred. Financial Services, Audit or Compliance background and/or experience with financial services compliance and/or experience with the assigned products, services or business lines/areas and the pertaining laws, regulations and rules of relevant regulators preferred.
