Overview

Responsible for all aspects of the company's engineering product development activities. The Vice President of Engineering and Development at Mastercard/Vyze will focus on the structuring and operation of the Product Development, Quality, and Level 3 engineering function as a cohesive unit; the conceptualizing and day-to-day management of simultaneous projects; delivering products and features to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints, and the fostering of innovative solutions to customer needs.

Role
•Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company's strategic direction
•Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of product development activities
•Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that of both manager and support resource / mentor
•Hire and direct staff of senior group members to acquire necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments and plan for future scale
•Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department, including productivity, agility, and quality
•Establish best practices in project/initiative estimation, calling out clear assumptions and dependencies to the estimates
•Assure that department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame, identifying risks and recommending corrective action as needed
•Recommends new technology and ideas to improve sprints and efficiency
•Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position
•Assure that product is designed for specific needs, but with wider applications in mind
•Ensure implementation and refinement as required of formal process to support the product development process
•Ensure that product development is focused on meeting and exceeding the customer requirements
•Collaborate with customer delivery team ensuring on time development of new product requirements in support of customer launch targets
•Partner with Production Support to establish process rigor for identified bugs that require engineering effort post launch and ongoing to ensure high customer satisfaction.
•Establish Mastercard/Vyze as a preferred destination for Engineering and Quality talent

All About You
•Experience managing development resources across multiple geographies
•Experience managing development resources and execution in dual technology stack environment
•Experience managing mix of pure Agile and hybrid Agile-atop-Waterfall development processes
•Experience with hiring and retaining development resources in highly competitive geography
•Experience rapidly growing and scaling a team in response to market stimuli, through both in-house and off-shore, near-shore contract resources
•Experience in implementing best practice project estimation processes within the department and creating transparency in the process across departments
•"Out of the box thinker" must be key driver contributing to the products roadmap and willing to take innovative product risk while balancing the road map for on time deliverables.
•Significant industry engineering experience, including experience in a management-level position.
•Demonstrated team building and leadership skills with teams of at least 30+ development and QA resources.
•Experience in the payments industry, with detailed knowledge in both API platforms and "at-the-glass" UX experience
•Experience managing resources during production outages (if any) for effective resolution
•Competent in software design.
•Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
•Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.
•Professional and positive approach, humble, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
•Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
•Business related computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
•Ability to be external facing with large retailers, and within the tech community positioning Mastercard/Vyze as a thought leader and destination for talent
•Ability to work in a dynamic , fast paced, fluid environment and make appropriate decisions with a "bias for action".
