We are looking for a new hire to join the Macquarie Commodity Trading (MCT) team as a Quantitative Analyst.  In this role, you will provide support to the physical trading desk, specifically the crude and fuel team.

As a member of our MCT team, you will be embedded on our trading floor to work directly with the teams traders and analysts to create software that leverages our proprietary research infrastructure to improve existing trades and investigate new ones. You will use your strong quantitative skills to work on projects in the following areas: developing and improving pricing models, exploring new ways of analyzing portfolio risk, collation and categorization of large amounts of data from both internal and external sources and execution optimization.

To be successful youll have;

  • An undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a like industry role
  • Experience analyzing datasets or developing automation tools in Python
  • The ability to quantify your insights using probability and statistics
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and in teams
  • A sense of urgency to solve meaningful problems and the ability to thrive in a competitive industry
