We are looking to hire a trading analyst based in the Houston office to join our Physical Oil business and support the Fuel and Crude team.  In this role you will be a subject matter expert across oil products and Macquaries systems ensuring accurate reporting of position and profit and loss daily.  This is an incredible opportunity to work directly with the front office. The successful candidate will initially work as part of a global Middle Office team to gain expertise across Macquaries trading systems and a broad knowledge of the business operation with the opportunity to move to the desk once the candidate has demonstrated the required level of proficiency.

In this job you will;

  • have ownership of the position and P&L reporting. This also includes operational management of any position models and manual processes and the month-end hand over of P&L to Finance
  • lead initiatives to improve processes.  This will include identifying areas for improving accuracy, efficiency and the speed and quality of data
  • act as the point of escalation for issues with automatic trades and support the front office with the entry of non-standard or new trade types
  • work closely with the risk team to ensure that all price curves used to value positions are correctly calculated and implemented into the appropriate tools and systems. 

The successful candidate will have;

  • 2-5 years relevant experience in energy commodities working in a middle office, finance or risk role
  • a university degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or Business, or relevant professional qualification
  • experience in mark-to-market accounting
  • experience in process improvement
  • proficient in the use of Trading Systems
  • technical knowledge of valuation and position modeling methodologies
  • ability to demonstrate learning agility across new processes, technology and applications.
