Two senior traders, Jerry Koo and Sanchit Jain, have left Barclays in Singapore, according to a source with knowledge of the moves.
Koo had been head of EM macro trading for Asia since 2019. His next destitution is as yet unknown, although he is rumoured to be shifting to the buy side.
Jain, who was global head of EM Asia options and head of FXO Singapore (EM and G10), is moving to the buy side, he confirmed to us. Our source says Jain is joining Caxton, the global macro hedge fund.
He had been with Barclays since 2017, having previously worked for Société Générale in Hong Kong as Asia head of emerging market options, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Barclays declined to comment on both moves.
The British bank lost several senior Asia-based traders in 2019 and 2020 as part of a reshuffle of its emerging markets desk. Koo led the rebuilding of the desk at that time.
The source says Barclays’ macro business in Asia has been underperforming. The bank declined to comment.
Barclays posts its first quarter results on Thursday; profits are expected to fall.
