Hays is currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer for an initial 5-month contract, working an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster.
Your new role
This is a hands-on onsite role supporting a complex Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) network environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining network performance and reliability, resolving incidents and supporting technology projects and network changes across the site.
Duties -
Working as the onsite Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing Level 1 and Level 2 support across OT and IT network infrastructure
- Troubleshooting network incidents, outages and performance issues
- Supporting planned maintenance and responding to unplanned network disruptions
- Assisting remote teams with network patching, firmware updates and software upgrades
- Acting as the onsite technical approver for network and technology changes
- Providing technical guidance to project teams delivering technology initiatives
- Maintaining network standards, reliability and operational requirements
- Supporting network and communications infrastructure across a diverse operational environment
- Cisco switching and routing
- Cisco wireless access points
- Cisco Industrial Ethernet (IE)
- Cambium wireless technologies
- MST communication infrastructure
- OT and IT integrated network environments
We're looking for a Network Engineer who is technically strong, comfortable working independently onsite and confident troubleshooting issues in a business-critical environment.Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies
- Experience across switching, routing and wireless infrastructure
- Strong network troubleshooting and incident management skills
- Experience with network patching, firmware updates and upgrades
- Exposure to OT, industrial or other operational network environments will be highly regarded
- Ability to work effectively with remote technical teams and project stakeholders
- A proactive and practical approach to resolving technical issues
- Availability to work an 8/6 FIFO roster
- Initial 5-month contract
- Potential for contract extension
- 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster
- Exposure to both OT and IT networking
- Hands-on work across Cisco, wireless and industrial networking technologies
- Mix of BAU network support and project involvement
- Opportunity to work within a large and technically complex environment
