This well-established, customer-focused organisation is undertaking a significant insurance transformation within a highly regulated environment. The business is operating across a complex multi-organisation delivery model, involving internal technology teams, external insurance partners and third-party delivery providers. With a major insurance platform programme underway, they require a senior architecture professional who can bring deep insurance domain knowledge, strong governance capability and the confidence to influence across technical, business and executive stakeholders. Your new role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Insurance Domain Architect to join on an initial six-month contract, with a possible extension. This role will provide senior domain and architecture leadership across a major insurance programme, helping to define, govern and enable both target-state and transitional architectures. You will operate across claims, policy and billing, underwriting-adjacent functions, finance, accounting, actuarial considerations, regulatory compliance, data and reporting. You will also play a key role in supporting architecture governance, standards, documentation and decision-making across a complex programme environment. This is a senior individual contributor role, providing functional and technical leadership to solution architects, delivery teams and vendor architects, without formal line management responsibility. The role will suit someone who is self-sufficient, commercially aware and confident operating across a multi-vendor, regulated environment where priorities, governance requirements and stakeholder expectations need to be carefully balanced.
What you'll need to succeed
Given the nature of the programme and the point in its delivery, Insurance domain experience is critical.
- Extensive experience as a Domain Architect, Enterprise Architect or Senior Solution / Business Architect within general insurance, particularly across claims, policy and billing or underwriting-adjacent functions.
- Insurance business knowledge including the surrounding business functions such as finance, accounting, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Prior exposure to insurance separations, carve-outs, mergers or large-scale platform transitions.
- Strong experience defining current-state transition-state and target-state architecture using structured frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent.
- The ability to lead architectural decision-making across complex multi-organisational and multi-vendor environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to present and defend architectural positions to senior and executive audiences.
- Strong governance, assurance and documentation capability.
- Experience supporting or working alongside external audit or assurance functions, including advisory-style environments.
- Familiarity with modern insurance platforms (such as Duck Creek, Guidewire, Majesco, Sapiens) would be highly regarded, along with exposure to data platforms, complex data migrations or streaming concepts.
You'll join a significant insurance transformation programme at a critical point in delivery. Your domain expertise, influence and governance capability will see your role as a Senior Architect have genuine impact. You will also benefit from:
- An initial 6-month contract with likely extension.
- Exposure to a complex, multi-organisation delivery model involving internal teams, external insurance stakeholders and 3rd party partners.
- Opportunity to influence architecture decisions across claims, policy and billing, data and reporting, governance and regulatory considerations.
- Hybrid working arrangement with interstate candidates welcome (Adelaide presence required for key stakeholder workshops).
