Data Project Manager (POS & BI Transformation)
Role Overview
Seeking an end-to-end Data Project Manager to lead the data stream of a major new Point-of-Sale (POS) system deployment. This role oversees the implementation of analytics dashboards, semantic data models, and business-facing Self-Service BI enablement.
You will maintain an overarching program view across multiple workstreams, drive overall project progress, manage dependencies, and ensure high-impact delivery aligned with the enterprise data transformation roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Program & Project Governance: Create and execute comprehensive project plans, track cross-workstream dependencies, identify key risks, and establish proactive mitigation strategies.
- POS & BI Oversight: Oversee the core technical and analytical deliverables, ensuring smooth data flow from the new POS system into standardized semantic models and dashboard layers.
- Self-Service BI Enablement: Drive end-user enablement initiatives to empower business teams to adopt and self-serve analytics post-launch.
- Executive Stakeholder Management: Translate complex data concepts into clear, high-impact messages for senior leadership and business unit leads across the region.
- Cross-Functional Ownership: Take complete accountability for program milestones, ensuring alignment between retail operations, data engineering, and front-end BI teams.
Key Requirements
- Project Management Experience: Proven track record leading medium-to-large data, analytics, or enterprise system implementation projects.
- Data Domain Mastery: Strong functional understanding of data pipelines, semantic model architecture, and Self-Service BI (SSBI) delivery frameworks.
- Retail & POS Exposure: Prior experience with retail Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, store operations, transaction datasets, or customer analytics is highly preferred.
- Tools & Frameworks: Proficiency in modern project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Gantt charts, RAID logs).
- Behavioral Strengths: Highly self-driven with exceptional ownership, proactive problem-solving abilities, and strong articulation skills.
