I’m working with a growing hedge fund in Hong Kong that is looking to hire a Hedge Fund Operations / Middle Office Analyst to support its investment and business operations.

The fund is open to candidates coming from either a Big 4 / Big 5 audit or Buy-Side background with relevant financial services, asset management, or fund exposure, or someone already working in hedge fund operations, trade operations, fund accounting, or middle office on the buy side.

This is not a pure back-office seat. The role has a strong trade operations and middle office angle, sitting close to the investment team and covering the full trade lifecycle, from execution support through to booking, reconciliation, settlement, P&L, and NAV review.

The Role

1. You will work closely with the COO, investment team, operations team, fund administrators, prime brokers, custodians, and other external service providers.
2. Responsibilities will include:
3. Supporting the full trade lifecycle across equities, listed derivatives, FX, and other relevant products
4. Trade capture, booking, confirmation, allocation, and settlement follow-up
5. Daily position, cash, trade, and P&L reconciliations across internal systems, brokers, administrators, and prime brokers
6. Working with the investment team on trade breaks, settlement issues, corporate actions, financing, stock borrow, and other trade-related queries
7. Monitoring failed trades, breaks, margin, collateral, financing costs, borrow costs, dividends, and corporate actions
8. Supporting daily P&L review, exposure reporting, and portfolio-level reporting
9. Liaising with prime brokers, executing brokers, custodians, fund administrators, and counterparties
10. Reviewing NAV packs, administrator reports, investor reporting materials, and month-end fund accounting outputs
11. Supporting subscription, redemption, fee calculations, accruals, expenses, and invoice processes
12. Assisting with operational controls, process improvement, workflow automation, and system enhancements
13. Supporting audit, compliance, regulatory, and tax reporting requirements where needed

What They’re Looking For

1. 2-5 years of experience in hedge fund operations, middle office, trade operations, fund accounting, product control, fund administration, or audit
2. Big 4 / Big 5 audit candidates are welcome, ideally with financial services, asset management, private funds, or alternatives exposure
3. Buy-side hedge fund experience would be highly relevant, but is not essential
4. Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, reconciliations, NAV, fund accounting, settlement, and basic financial products
5. Comfortable working with investment teams, brokers, administrators, and other external providers
6. Strong Excel skills; systems, automation, coding, or process improvement experience would be a plus
7. Detail-oriented, practical, and able to work accurately under deadlines
8. Hands-on mindset - happy to get involved across both middle office and fund operations
9. Strong communication skills in English; Chinese language skills would be helpful but not required
10. CPA, ACCA, CFA, or other relevant qualifications would be viewed positively
