Our client is a well-established, privately owned financial advisory and investment firm with a strong international presence. The firm serves high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and family offices, and is known for its entrepreneurial culture and continued growth.
As part of the expansion of its trading function, the firm is seeking a Junior Trader to join its Hong Kong team. This is a hands-on role offering exposure across multiple asset classes and direct involvement in trade execution, working closely with traders, portfolio managers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Support and execute trades across multiple asset classes, including fixed income, bonds, equities, and structured products
Manage order flow and ensure timely, accurate execution of trades in line with internal controls and regulatory requirements
Perform pre-trade checks and ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations
Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and clients on trade-related queries, particularly in the absence of the senior trader
Coordinate closely with portfolio managers, relationship managers, and operations teams to ensure smooth trade lifecycle management
Monitor and follow up on trade settlement, allocations, and reconciliation processes
Maintain accurate records of trades and transactions
Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives (including use of Python/VBA where applicable)
Support the development and maintenance of broker and counterparty relationships
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in a trading or execution-focused role within a financial institution
Prior hands-on experience in trade execution is essential (candidates from middle office will only be considered if they have direct execution exposure)
Experience across fixed income, equities, and/or structured products is highly preferred
Strong understanding of trade lifecycle and market practices
Proficiency in Python and/or VBA is highly desirable
High level of maturity and ability to work independently, including handling client and stakeholder queries when required
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills in English
