Operations & Fund Accounting Manager - Market Leading and Competitive Base Salary + Bonus
I’m working with an established hedge fund based in Central Hong Kong that is looking to add an Operations & Fund Accounting Manager to its growing team.
This is a high-quality seat for an hedge fund operations or fund accounting professional who wants to take on a broader mandate within a sophisticated investment platform. The role sits at the intersection of fund accounting, middle office, trade operations, financing, treasury, investor activity, controls, and strategic infrastructure buildout.
The ideal candidate will bring 5-10+ years of relevant experience across hedge fund operations, middle office, fund accounting, product control, fund administration, or audit/advisory work supporting alternative investment managers.
The Role This individual will help oversee the operational and accounting framework supporting the firm’s funds, strategies, trading activity, and investor base. The position requires someone who is technically strong, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving investment environment with exposure to senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee daily trade operations, including trade capture, confirmation, allocation, booking accuracy, and lifecycle event monitoring
- Manage cash, position, market value, and P&L reconciliations across internal systems, administrators, prime brokers, custodians, and counterparties
- Review daily and monthly NAV processes, including P&L validation, accruals, fund expenses, management fees, incentive allocations, and investor-level reporting
- Monitor corporate actions, dividends, interest, financing charges, margin activity, and other income/expense items impacting fund performance
- Support treasury and financing workflows, including cash management, collateral movements, margin calls, financing rates, wire activity, and liquidity reporting
- Liaise with prime brokers, executing brokers, ISDAs, custodians, fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and internal investment teams
- Oversee settlement processes across equities, derivatives, swaps, options, futures, FX, and other traded products
- Investigate and resolve trade breaks, cash breaks, position breaks, valuation issues, failed trades, and counterparty discrepancies
- Support OTC derivative operations, including confirmations, resets, payments, collateral, valuation reconciliation, and lifecycle events
- Assist with portfolio financing, counterparty exposure monitoring, collateral optimization, and operational risk controls
- Review capital activity, subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, side letters, investor allocations, and related administrator reporting
- Partner with legal, compliance, investor relations, finance, and investment teams on fund launches, new accounts, new products, and operational readiness
- Maintain and enhance operational controls, procedures, reconciliations, reporting workflows, and exception management processes
- Participate in technology, automation, data integrity, and process improvement initiatives as the platform continues to scale
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, audit requests, tax reporting, financial statement review, and regulatory reporting inputs
- Contribute to broader infrastructure projects involving systems implementation, administrator oversight, vendor management, and operational scalability
Ideal background:
- 5-10+ years of experience in hedge fund operations, middle office, fund accounting, product control, fund administration, or public accounting/advisory
- Strong knowledge of hedge fund operations, trade lifecycle, NAV processes, P&L, reconciliations, investor allocations, and operational controls
- Comfortable working with prime brokers, fund administrators, custodians, auditors, tax advisors, and other external service providers
- Ability to investigate complex breaks, identify root causes, and drive resolution across internal and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of cash management, collateral, margin, settlement, corporate actions, and valuation processes
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced investment environment
- Clear, polished communication style with the ability to interact credibly with senior investment and business leadership
- CPA, CFA, or public accounting background is a plus, but not required
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong hedge fund middle office professional who wants a more expansive role with real ownership, hedge fund exposure, and the ability to contribute to the continued buildout of a leading investment platform.
