Regional COO / Senior Business Management Lead – FX & Commodities

Our client is an established international financial markets platform with a strong presence across Commodities, FX and Global Markets. As part of its continued growth in Asia, it is seeking an experienced senior leader to take on a key COO / Senior Business Management role.

This is not a purely operational or corporate COO position. The successful candidate will work closely with senior business stakeholders and should bring a strong understanding of the FX and/or Commodities markets, combined with the ability to drive strategic, commercial and operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Partner closely with senior business and functional leaders to support the growth and strategic development of the regional business.
2. Act as a key bridge between the Front Office and internal functions, ensuring effective execution of business priorities.
3. Drive strategic initiatives, business planning, organisational development and change programmes.
4. Support the development and execution of new business initiatives, including market expansion and growth opportunities.
5. Provide strong oversight of the business operating model, governance, controls and risk management framework.
6. Identify opportunities to improve business processes, efficiency and overall operating effectiveness.
7. Lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives across Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Technology.
8. Act as a trusted adviser to senior management, providing commercial and strategic input on key business decisions.
9. Take a hands-on approach where required, balancing strategic thinking with strong execution.

Requirements

1. Significant experience in a COO, Business Management, Chief of Staff or senior business leadership role within Financial Markets.
2. Strong exposure to FX and/or Commodities is essential.
3. Experience working closely with Global Markets businesses across front, middle and back office, with sufficient product knowledge to engage credibly with senior business stakeholders.
4. A good understanding of the commercial, operational and risk considerations within a Financial Markets environment.
5. Demonstrated experience driving strategic initiatives, business transformation, growth or organizational change.
6. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively across senior management and multiple functions.
7. Commercially minded and execution-focused, with a willingness to remain hands-on.
8. Experience in Asia and/or Greater China would be advantageous
