Our client - A reputable brokerage firm is seeking a Junior SBL Trader to join its fast-paced Prime Brokerage business in Hong Kong. In this high-impact role, you will execute stock borrowing, lending (SBL), and Repo trades to maximize P&L and optimize inventory utilization. You will monitor market liquidity, track hard-to-borrow names, and respond dynamically to recalls and rate movements. Additionally, you will partner with tech teams to enhance automated trading tools and streamline financing workflows.
You will manage daily communication and rate negotiations with lenders, clients, and brokers to secure premium market access. Working in lockstep with internal Operations, Risk, and Compliance teams, you will guarantee timely trade settlement, resolve discrepancies, and keep position exposures safely within firm parameters. This role bridges market execution, relationship management, and operational control to drive revenue growth for the desk.
To qualify, you must have 2 to 3 years of direct, hands-on experience in SBL, Repo, or securities financing. Full fluency in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese is mandatory. You need a strong understanding of lending rates, supply dynamics, and prime brokerage platforms, backed by advanced Excel skills (Python or SQL is a distinct plus).
