Senior Digital Asset Risk Expert
A senior leadership role acting as the primary subject matter expert for Digital Assets risk. You will lead the development and oversight of the DA Risk Management Approach (DARMA), ensuring all risk types (market, credit, operational, cyber, etc.) are identified, managed, and compliant with the group's risk appetite. You will influence the bank's DA strategy, review new initiatives (blockchain, tokens, custody), and provide expert challenge to the business and risk framework owners.
Role Overview:
- Strategy & Framework: Own the DA risk framework (DARMA); advise on DA strategy and regulatory interpretation.
- Risk Assessment: Lead reviews of DA projects, products, and client relationships (including tokenomics, blockchain, and wallet infrastructure). Assess risks across capital, liquidity, market, and credit.
- Oversight & Challenge: Monitor compliance with risk appetite, review the effectiveness of controls, and ensure first and second-line teams understand their DA responsibilities.
- Governance: Maintain governance forums, monitor emerging risks, and escalate significant matters to senior management and the board.
- Regulatory & Conduct: Ensure all activities comply with laws and regulations; embed the highest standards of conduct.
Ideal Profile:
- Experience: 15+ years in banking/financial services; 5+ years direct experience with Digital Asset technology (at a service provider).
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of blockchains, tokens, stablecoins, and associated novel risks (reputational, tech, cyber, market, credit).
- Risk Management: Strong background in risk frameworks, governance, and evaluating financial/non-financial risks.
- Skills: Board-level communication, stakeholder management, regulatory knowledge, and thought leadership in fintech/digital assets.
