Job Description - Functional Manager (P&F BLR)
• The Functional Manager is a key role created to develop key individuals, who will be responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of the department and resources.
• The Functional Manager is the local managerial lead for the P&F team in BLR. You will own day-to-day people leadership, resource coordination, and local delivery alignment while partnering closely with P&F management (MBI) to execute global practice goals. This role balances people management and hands-on technical support and will act as the first responder and departmental representative for BLR P&F Team.
• Roles & Responsibilities
• Act as the first responder for P&F matters in BLR-escalate critical departmental issues to MBI P&F Management and resolve local blockers.
• Lead, assign, and review work for BLR P&F team members; ensure tasks are executed on time and to quality standards.
• Maintain and drive department objectives at BLR; align BLR team delivery with MBI / global practice priorities.
• Approve / review timecards for assigned staff and ensure accurate time reporting.
• Maintain ≥80% chargeability (individual target) while balancing managerial responsibilities.
• Drive project proposals along with MBI Management and Project Leads.
• Provide performance feedback and assist MBI P&F Management with appraisals, career-pathing, and retention actions.
• Drive team-building, training, and local knowledge-sharing activities.
• Represent P&F to BLR leadership; coordinate bi-weekly/monthly alignment meetings with MBI P&F Management.
• Monitor QA/QC adherence and drive continuous improvement & Innovation initiatives at BLR
• Monitor and control the project Schedule and budget performance.
• Ensure compliance with company policies (safety, DEI, timesheets, confidentiality).
• Identify hiring needs and participate in recruitment (MBI/BLR) and onboarding for BLR.
• Responsible in departmental growth planning and strategy development; assist with monthly P&F updates and reporting.
• Other duties and functional responsibilities as assigned by the MBI P&F Management
Qualifications
Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institute
• Minimum 6 years' overall professional experience; experience in P&F or related engineering design is strongly preferred.
• Prior people-management experience and experience with resources & work load planning.
• A minimum of 2 years of BMI experience is preferred.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees and management.
• Technical ability in Engineering Design and Project management is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Solid technical understanding of P&F Projects
• Drawing standards, and QA/QC processes.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Strong stakeholder management-ability to work across BLR, MBI, and BMUS counterparts.
• Ability to prioritize, make timely decisions, and manage change in a dynamic environment.
• Good commercial awareness-capacity to support profitable growth and resource loading decisions.
• Strong problem-solving, facilitation, and organizational skills.
• Tact, discretion, and ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
• Commitment to safety, DEI, and company culture.
Travel & other requirements
• Occasional travel between BLR, MBI and to USA as required.
• Flexible working hours may be required to align with cross-office meetings.
