Creditsafe are expanding their Consumer Bureau team, an exciting new project aiming to have us enter the Consumer Credit Bureau space in the United Kingdom and eventually become a fully-fledged Consumer Reporting Agency. We're looking for a Quality Engineer experienced in testing cloud-native software systems.

THE TEAM



This opportunity is to join an Agile team of Software, Data and Quality engineers who are responsible for two - one productionized and one upcoming - big data projects. These projects process hundreds of GB a day in massive ELTL ingest, person-centric matching, and sub-second-serving batch and near-real-time processes.



The wider Quality Engineering community within Creditsafe work together in driving a culture of quality into the teams acting as knowledge experts on quality. We test throughout the lifecycle and believe that the whole team is responsible for the quality of our deliverables. We implement intelligent automation and are proponents of thinking critically about the features developed by our teams.




YOUR ROLE



You will validate data correctness across every layer of the stack: ingest, transformation, warehouse, and API. You will write SQL to interrogate millions of rows, build Python test suites that run against cloud infrastructure, and work directly with engineers and analyst to trace data issues from source to serving.



You will collaborate closely with our sister Data Analytics, and product teams, from the beginning stages of development, offering input on system design and testing strategies and ensuring our feature output matches their expectations and demands.



This is a hybrid position, requiring attendance in the office for 50% of the working week, in line with our hybrid work policy.




YOUR TOOL STACK

• SQL. You'll write queries daily.


• Python. PyTest, automation frameworks, data validation scripts


• Pandas (or Spark/Polars). For dataset analysis and comparison.


• AWS. Our stack includes Redshift, S3, S3Tables (Iceberg), DynamoDB, Aurora (Postgres), Step Functions, Airflow, Lambda, ECS, Glue, among others. You don't need to know all of them, but experience with any AWS data services (or equivalent in Azure or GCP) is a strong start.


• API testing tools. Postman, Bruno, or similar.


• Locust (or k6/Gatling/JMeter). For load and performance testing against data APIs and pipelines.


• Git.


• Azure DevOps. Boards, pipelines, repos, test plans.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Data Pipeline Testing: Build and maintain automated tests for data pipelines from ingest all the way until serving layer. Validate record counts, schema integrity, transformation logic, and cross-source consistency.


• Data Validation: Verify correctness, completeness, and accuracy across Redshift, Aurora, S3, and DynamoDB. Trace individual records through the full pipeline when something doesn't add up.


• API Testing: Test search and lookup APIs against expected data outcomes, not just status codes, but whether the right records come back with the right values.


• Performance Testing: Design and run load tests against APIs and data pipelines using Locust or similar tools. Identify bottlenecks, validate SLAs, and ensure the system handles production-scale volumes.


• Early Involvement: Join refinement sessions, challenge acceptance criteria and flag gaps before code is written.


• Automation: Build test suites in PyTest that run in CI/CD. Integration tests against real AWS infrastructure, not just mocks.


• Troubleshooting: When a pipeline produces wrong results, you find where and why. Clear reports, reproducible queries, root cause analysis.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience: Proven experience testing data systems, pipelines, warehouses, ETL/ELT, not just web applications.


• SQL: Good SQL skills. You can write joins, procs, and aggregations to validate data across tables.


• Python: Good Python for test automation, scripting, and data analysis.


• Cloud: Familiarity with AWS data services (Redshift, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora) or an equivalent cloud stack.


• Analytical Mindset: You look at a dataset and spot what's wrong, not just confirm what's right.
  
  Automation: Experience integrating test suites with CI/CD pipelines.


• Performance: Experience with performance and load testing tools (Locust, k6, Gatling, or similar) is desired.


• Communication: Ability to explain data issues clearly to engineers and product owners.


• Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
