Fully remote / Open to candidates across Europe

A regulated institution with an established USD 500m credit fund is hiring a Head of Credit Risk & Underwriting to own the credit decision end to end. This is a newly created role reporting into the C-suite.

This is a hands-on seat, not a governance one. You decide who the fund lends to. You will run the counterparty credit assessment, build and defend the underwriting view, and stay close to a large and active portfolio day to day. A significant share of the book is unsecured, so the quality of your counterparty analysis is the product.

What you will be doing

1. Owning credit underwriting for the fund — origination screening through to credit decision and documentation
2. Running counterparty credit assessment on institutional borrowers, including unsecured exposures
3. Setting and maintaining exposure frameworks, limits and covenant structures
4. Hands-on portfolio monitoring across a USD 500m book — early warning indicators, borrower performance, concentration and liquidity risk
5. Working alongside asset operations on collateral, settlement and day-to-day portfolio mechanics
6. Presenting credit recommendations to investment and risk committees
7. Contributing to structuring on selected transactions, though this is a smaller part of the role

What we are looking for

1. Substantial credit underwriting experience with genuine ownership of the credit decision, ideally from a bank, private credit fund or specialist lender
2. Strong unsecured and counterparty credit assessment — this is the core of the role
3. Comfort operating hands-on across a large portfolio rather than through a team
4. Credible in front of a credit or investment committee
5. Ability to work independently in a small, fast-moving environment

Nice to have

1. Digital asset or crypto lending exposure
2. Start-up or early-stage experience
3. Structuring or capital markets background
