Overview
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (AVP level) to join a high-performing Application Production Support (APS) team within a leading global investment bank in London.
You will play a critical role supporting a low-latency Cash Equities trading platform, working directly alongside front office traders, quants, and developers to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical execution environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on Level 1/2/3 support for the Cash Equities Execution platform
- Sit directly with High Touch and Low Touch trading desks, supporting real-time trading activity
- Monitor system health, performance, and trading flows across global markets
- Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely resolution
- Own and manage incident lifecycle, including detailed post-incident reporting
- Collaborate closely with Front Office developers, quants, and BA teams
- Support production releases and deployments, ensuring minimal disruption
- Automate manual processes using scripting to improve efficiency and reliability
- Maintain and improve operational documentation (runbooks, procedures, tools)
- Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as part of a global support model
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience supporting trading systems or low-latency platforms
- Solid expertise in Unix/Linux environments and system-level troubleshooting
- Proficient in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g. Python, Bash, Go)
- Experience with monitoring & observability tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, latency, etc.)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed systems under pressure
- Experience working in production support / SRE / APS environments
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to electronic trading, equities, or financial markets
- Experience with log management tools (Splunk, OpenSearch)
- Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, Tibco, Solace)
- Familiarity with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, KDB/q)
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g. Corvil)
- Infrastructure-as-Code exposure (e.g. Ansible)
- Background in high-availability, high-throughput environments
