Senior Data Engineer (DV Cleared) | Global Defence & Technology | SW England

We're partnering with a leading global technology and defence firm that delivers mission-critical solutions across some of the UK's most secure and complex environments. As their data capabilities continue to expand, they are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in designing and delivering secure, scalable data platforms that support critical operational and strategic outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable data platforms across ingestion, storage, processing and analytics workloads.
• Develop robust data pipelines using Apache NiFi, Python and SQL, integrating complex data from APIs and enterprise systems.
• Define and implement data models, schemas, data contracts and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to support reliable system integration.
• Drive data quality, governance, lineage and traceability standards, ensuring data remains accurate, trusted and auditable.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, data scientists and customer stakeholders to deliver resilient, production-ready solutions.

Experience needed:

• Proven experience delivering data engineering solutions within complex project or production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL, building and optimising scalable data pipelines.
• Expertise with Apache NiFi and data orchestration across multiple sources and systems.
• Experience designing data models, schemas, data contracts and integration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of REST API integration, Parquet data formats and S3-compatible object storage.
• Experience deploying or supporting data platforms within OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
• Knowledge of GitLab CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• Understanding of data validation, assurance, metadata management, lineage and data governance principles.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, problem-solving and communication skills.
