A health services organisation operating across multiple sites in the South East has a new opportunity for a part-time Payroll Assistant in their Maidstone office.
The Payroll Assistant will provide day-to-day support to the Payroll Manager, helping to collate payroll information and respond to payroll queries. This is a key support role ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, and that payroll records are maintained to a high standard of accuracy and confidentiality.
The role is based in their Maidstone office will initially be on a temporary basis (4-month contract), with a view to becoming permanent.
Responsibilities
of the Management Accountant Role:
- Collate and check payroll data each pay period, including new starters, leavers, changes to pay, overtime, and absence records
- Support the Payroll Manager in the preparation and processing of the monthly/weekly payroll run
- Act as a first point of contact for payroll queries from employees and managers, escalating more complex issues to the Payroll Manager
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and personnel records in line with data protection requirements
- Assist with the calculation and processing of statutory payments (e.g. SSP, SMP, SPP) and deductions (e.g. tax, National Insurance, pension contributions)
- Help reconcile payroll data against timesheets, HR systems, and other source records
- Support month-end and year-end payroll processes, including P60s, P11Ds, and other statutory reporting
- Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll information is accurate and consistent across systems
- Assist with filing, record-keeping, and general administrative tasks within the payroll function
- Support the Payroll Manager with ad hoc payroll projects and process improvements as required.
Requirements
of the Management Accountant role:
- Previous experience in a payroll, HR, or finance administration role is essential
- Good numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Confident communicator, comfortable handling queries from employees at all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and confident using payroll or HR software systems
- Trustworthy and discreet when handling sensitive and confidential information
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.

- Office-based - Monday to Friday, 9 to 2:30
- £32,000 to £36,000 (pro rata) (£16 to £18 p/h), dependent on experience.
