An international banking organisation is seeking an experienced Internal Audit professional to join its Operational Audit team on an initial 4-6 month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned auditor with extensive banking experience to lead and execute audits across a broad range of wholesale banking and support functions within a highly regulated environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to an Audit Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the internal audit plan, leading end-to-end operational audits across business lines and corporate functions. Working as part of a well-established audit team, you will assess the effectiveness of controls, identify key risks, evaluate remediation activities, and provide valuable insight to senior stakeholders.This role offers exposure across a diverse range of banking activities and the opportunity to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operational audit assignments from planning through to reporting and issue validation.
• Prepare and review audit planning documentation, including risk assessments and audit scopes.
• Execute and oversee audit fieldwork, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with audit methodology.
• Identify control weaknesses and draft clear, concise audit findings and recommendations.
• Support the completion of audit reports and presentation of findings to management.
• Engage with stakeholders across the business to obtain information and challenge processes where required.
• Monitor and validate management actions relating to audit findings.
• Contribute to ongoing risk assessment and continuous monitoring activities.
• Ensure audits are conducted in line with internal methodologies, regulatory expectations, and professional standards.

Experience Required

• Minimum 7 years' experience within Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk, Controls, or a related banking environment.
• Strong knowledge of banking products (Fixed Income, rates ,credit, FX), operations, and control frameworks.
• Experience leading and delivering operational audits within a banking or financial services institution.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and governance requirements within financial services.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
• Data analytics experience would be advantageous.
