About the Opportunity
Detillens Consulting is partnering with a leading global financial services institution to recruit a Product Control Consultant for its London-based finance team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of daily profit and loss reporting, balance sheet substantiation, valuation controls, and financial governance across a range of traded products.
Key Responsibilities
As a Product Control Associate, you will be responsible for:
- Producing and analysing daily, weekly, and monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) reports.
- Investigating and explaining P&L movements to trading desks and senior management.
- Performing independent price verification (IPV) and valuation control processes.
- Reviewing trading activity and validating the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Monitoring and analysing balance sheet exposures and associated risks.
- Supporting month-end close activities and management reporting requirements.
- Collaborating with Front Office, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams.
- Identifying control gaps and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assisting with regulatory, audit, and governance-related deliverables.
- Supporting new product launches and ensuring appropriate control frameworks are established.
- Contributing to automation and continuous improvement initiatives across Product Control processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within Product Control, Valuation Control, Financial Control, Management Reporting, or a related finance function within financial services.
- Strong understanding of P&L reporting and financial control principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and to demanding deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and control-focused mindset.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Fixed Income, Equities, Rates, FX, Commodities, or Credit trading businesses.
- Knowledge of financial instruments and capital markets products.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting and financial controls within an investment banking environment.
- Experience with tools such as Bloomberg, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Python, or SQL.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or progress toward qualification.
