About the Opportunity

Detillens Consulting is partnering with a leading global financial services institution to recruit a Product Control Consultant for its London-based finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a high-performing environment and gain exposure to front office trading desks, risk management, finance, and senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of daily profit and loss reporting, balance sheet substantiation, valuation controls, and financial governance across a range of traded products.

Key Responsibilities

As a Product Control Associate, you will be responsible for:

1. Producing and analysing daily, weekly, and monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) reports.
2. Investigating and explaining P&L movements to trading desks and senior management.
3. Performing independent price verification (IPV) and valuation control processes.
4. Reviewing trading activity and validating the accuracy of financial reporting.
5. Monitoring and analysing balance sheet exposures and associated risks.
6. Supporting month-end close activities and management reporting requirements.
7. Collaborating with Front Office, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams.
8. Identifying control gaps and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
9. Assisting with regulatory, audit, and governance-related deliverables.
10. Supporting new product launches and ensuring appropriate control frameworks are established.
11. Contributing to automation and continuous improvement initiatives across Product Control processes.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
2. Previous experience within Product Control, Valuation Control, Financial Control, Management Reporting, or a related finance function within financial services.
3. Strong understanding of P&L reporting and financial control principles.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
6. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
7. Ability to work accurately under pressure and to demanding deadlines.
8. Strong attention to detail and control-focused mindset.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of Fixed Income, Equities, Rates, FX, Commodities, or Credit trading businesses.
2. Knowledge of financial instruments and capital markets products.
3. Familiarity with regulatory reporting and financial controls within an investment banking environment.
4. Experience with tools such as Bloomberg, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Python, or SQL.
5. Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or progress toward qualification.
