Job Description

Hybrid working - this role will be based in our Royston office 2-3 days a week. the days will be flexible, based around events and project work.

About the Group Systems team

The Group Systems Team is comprised of a variety of areas that support the wider firm. Consisting of seven key pillars specialising in Business Engagement and Governance, Strategy and Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Data and Analytics, Enterprise Solutions, Cyber Security and Technology and Operations.

Our Service teams sit within the Technology and Operations pillar, delivering end to end support for our users and includes the Global Service Desk, 2nd line, Application Support teams, Operations, Infrastructure and Digital Workspace teams.

About the IT Operations Team

The IT Operations team is part of the wider Group Systems department specialising in providing comprehensive IT services to our people. Group Systems manage a wide range of hardware and software tailored to each individual and their role in the firm and have support services available to cover business hours in all our offices with an ongoing review of IT process to ensure we best align to business priorities.

Specifically, the IT Operations team provide IT technical support to global infrastructure systems and services. Our primary focus is to ensure that all environments are available, reliable, secure and able to meet the demands placed upon it. We are a central point of reference for all of Group Systems, and often the first technical discipline for the Service Desk outside of desktop related matters.

Some of our responsibilities include:

• Server administration at both hypervisor and operating system levels
• Systems administration for a range of technical services including the Office 365 suite, Azure, third party security and archiving tools, directory services, server and storage system and SaaS products
• Supporting the Service Desk with a range of process activities such as new joiners, leavers and changes to existing colleague account and security details
• Troubleshooting technical issues with both internal and external customers
• Data retention activities ensuring that backups complete as required and intervening when problems arise
• Daily service checks and system monitoring with incident management/resolution
• Problem analysis of business-critical systems
• Supporting all teams that have operational accountability
• Participating in scheduled maintenance periods by applying patches and upgrades to systems under the direction of the assigned leader for the period

As a central point of reference for Group Systems, being in the IT Operations team opens possibilities to work with all departments and take on a variety of projects. We work in a small team that allows for work to be equally shared, along with opportunities to learn as you work, such as training courses and career development.

Qualifications

Required Qualities

As a member of IT Operations, you'll be working in a team to provide technical support for our people at PA. Whilst most of the core skills required for the role can be learnt on the job through training, we expect you will have:

• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrable troubleshooting capability and capable of working under pressure
• Ability to develop clear and concise documentation
• Key attention to detail and capable of working to a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to work effectively within a team

Candidates must possess UK single-nationality and have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years in order to obtain the security clearance level needed for this role. Candidates without this cannot be considered.
