The anticipated salary range for this role is between $63,000.00 and $75,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Analyst within the Client Management team supports the execution of Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes in accordance with the Bank's policies and regulatory requirements. The role is responsible for assisting with key client lifecycle activities, including client onboarding, periodic KYC reviews, account openings and maintenance, and due diligence reviews. The Analyst works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of KYC requirements while contributing to operational efficiency and a positive client experience.

Scope:

Support, execute and coordinate the maintenance of KYC records and client lifecycle activities, including onboarding, account maintenance, periodic reviews, and due diligence processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support KYC onboarding, periodic review, remediation, and account maintenance activities for institutional clients in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Relationship Managers, Operations, and other internal and external stakeholders to obtain required documentation and facilitate timely completion of client due diligence reviews.
  • Review client documentation for completeness and accuracy, identify missing information, and assist in resolving documentation or processing issues.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from internal business partners and support day-to-day processing requests related to client onboarding and lifecycle management activities.
  • Escalate potential compliance concerns, operational risks, or documentation deficiencies to senior team members for review and guidance.
  • Participate in Ad-Hoc Projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a corporate bank or relevant financial institution.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Legal or equivalent work experience. Formal credit training a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of KYC, AML, and client onboarding processes within a financial institution.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates initiative, willingness to learn, and adaptability to changing business requirements.

Additional Requirements

SMBC's employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office. SMBC requires that employees live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location.
