Position Overview
Jefferies is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Vice President, TMT Trader to join its Equities platform in New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for market making, risk facilitation, client execution, and idea generation across the Technology, Media & Telecommunications sector. This individual will serve as a key partner to institutional clients while collaborating closely with Research, Sales, Investment Banking, and Corporate Access teams to deliver differentiated market insight and trading solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of trading risk, developing client relationships, and generating actionable sector content. While a TMT background is preferred, the firm is open to experienced senior position traders from other sectors who demonstrate a proven ability to manage risk, drive client engagement, and contribute strategically across the franchise.

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual's experience level and qualifications. Key Responsibilities
- Trade and manage risk across TMT equities, providing liquidity and facilitating client flows while maintaining disciplined risk management practices.
- Act as a market maker and trusted execution partner for institutional clients.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hedge funds, mutual funds, long-only asset managers, and other institutional investors.
- Generate differentiated sector insights, trading ideas, and market commentary that add value to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Equity Research Analysts to develop a deep understanding of sector trends, company developments, earnings events, and thematic opportunities.
- Collaborate with Sales Trading teams to identify client opportunities and enhance franchise positioning within the TMT space.
- Work alongside Investment Banking professionals to support corporate client engagement and maximize connectivity across the platform.
- Participate in corporate access events, investor meetings, conferences, and marketing initiatives.
- Monitor market developments, news flow, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic events impacting the sector.
- Contribute to the continued growth and strategic expansion of the TMT trading franchise.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in equities trading, position trading, market making, or risk facilitation.
- Demonstrated ability to trade risk and manage a proprietary or facilitation book effectively.
- Strong institutional client relationships and a proven ability to cultivate and expand client coverage.
- Experience generating actionable market content, trade ideas, and sector insights.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities in fast-moving market conditions.
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 57 (or ability to obtain upon hire).
