Ready for the next step in your career?
In this role you'll work alongside a high-performing Financial Controller as their 2IC and they will give you the mentoring and exposure you need to develop towards you eventually becoming an FC.
You won't be left to work out your own career development. You'll have someone above you who has done the job, understands what good looks like and is willing to help you get there.
They've a strong Big 4 background with impressive industry experience and it helps that they're also excellent in person; we know you'll enjoy working with them.
You'll be joining a local business that is established, profitable and backed by a successful international parent company.
This means you'll get the stability and structure of a larger group without disappearing into a huge finance department. The Australian team is 6 strong and included in that group are two Accountants that will report directly to you.
You'll have parking onsite and it's WFH every Friday.
What you'll do
You already understand what a Senior Accountant does because you're probably already doing some of the accounting work in your current role. The difference here is what you get exposure to next.
You'll have:
- 2 direct reports giving you genuine people leadership experience
- Ownership of month-end
- Responsibility for reviewing the team's work and making sure the numbers make sense
- Monthly variance analysis and commentary, including presenting the story behind the numbers
- Quarterly forecasting with Head Office
- BAS, FBT and year-end tax working
- Exposure to external audit and Big 4 liaison
- Monthly commissions calculations
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Project accounting exposure
- Process improvement and ad hoc projects
Who you are
You'll be CA or CPA qualified, with strong financial accounting experience and some experience of managing people.
You won't be an FC now, you'll need to be someone who wants to become one.
You'll be comfortable owning month-end, talking to the numbers, reviewing the work of others and dealing with stakeholders outside Finance.
You'll also need to be someone who doesn't simply accept that "that's how we've always done it."
If you see a better way of doing something, you'll be encouraged to raise it and help make the change.
- Fully qualified CA / CPA
- Strong Excel capability
- Previous people management
- Significant ERP exposure
- Strong clear communication skills
