Role OverviewThe Deputy Department Head / Team Head, Corporate Banking will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Relationship Managers, formulating team business strategies, and driving top-line revenue growth across target segments. In addition to team management and operational governance, the successful candidate will maintain direct oversight of major corporate relationships and drive complex, high-value deal originations—spanning corporate lending, trade finance, cash management, FX, and cross-border structured financing. This role acts as a bridge between frontline business execution and senior executive management, ensuring robust risk management, credit quality, and compliance standards across the team's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities-
Leadership & Team Management: Lead, recruit, and develop a high-performing team of Relationship Managers; set business targets, monitor KPIs, and mentor staff to maximize productivity and career growth.

Business Strategy & Franchise Growth: Formulate and execute business development strategies to expand the bank’s client footprint across key segments (e.g., ASEAN corporates, China cross-border enterprises, NBFIs, family offices, and large conglomerates).

Deal Origination & Client Coverage: Maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers (C-suite, Treasurers, Managing Directors) and drive the origination of complex credit, trade, treasury, and structured cross-border transactions.

Credit & Portfolio Governance: Work closely with Risk and Credit Assessment teams to ensure high credit quality, oversee risk mitigation, and manage the health and profitability of the team's loan and deal portfolio.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product heads (Trade Finance, Global Markets, DCM, Syndication) and operational teams to deliver end-to-end, tailored solutions for clients.

Regulatory & Risk Compliance: Ensure all business activities, deal structures, and client onboardings adhere strictly to HKMA regulations, internal policies, and compliance standards.

Executive Representation: Assist the Department Head in day-to-day managerial duties, department budget planning, resource allocation, and representing the department in internal management committees.

12–15+ years of progressive experience in Corporate or Institutional Banking, with a proven track record in both revenue origination and team management.

Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing, coaching, or building a team of Relationship Managers in a commercial setting.

Deep corporate client network across Greater China, ASEAN, and cross-border corporate segments.

Comprehensive technical knowledge of corporate lending, credit structuring, trade finance, cash management, FX, and capital markets solutions.

Strong credit sense and familiar with risk governance, HKMA regulatory requirements, and AML/KYC standards.

Excellent strategic mindset, commercial drive, and negotiation skills.

Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is essential.

Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 12 years of experience in Corporate Banking, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or team lead capacity.

Strong track record of meeting or exceeding team and personal revenue targets.
