Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and preventing insurance fraud and suspicious claims in the Singapore market. The role supports the company's fraud risk management strategy by conducting thorough investigations, gathering evidence, and working closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and law enforcement where necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Fraud Detection & Investigation
- Identify and assess potentially fraudulent, exaggerated, or suspicious insurance claims across assigned lines of business (e.g. Motor, Personal Accident, Medical, Property).
- Conduct end to end investigations, including desktop reviews, field investigations, interviews, and background checks.
- Analyze claim patterns, loss history, documentation, and third party data to establish fraud indicators.
- Perform recorded or non recorded interviews with claimants, insureds, witnesses, agents, repairers, and medical providers where appropriate.
- Collect, verify, and preserve evidence in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Case Management & Reporting
- Prepare clear, factual, and well structured investigation reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in claims and SIU systems.
- Provide investigation outcomes to Claims, Legal, Underwriting, and Management to support claim decisions.
- Monitor and follow up on SIU cases to ensure timely resolution.
- Stakeholder & External Engagement
- Work closely with Claims handlers to provide investigation support and fraud risk advice.
- Liaise with external vendors such as surveillance firms, loss adjusters, forensic experts, and investigators.
- Engage with legal counsel, law enforcement agencies, and regulators (e.g. Singapore Police Force, Ministry of Manpower, Land Transport Authority, CPIB) when required.
- Support litigation, arbitration, or prosecution by providing evidence, statements, and testimony if needed.
- Fraud Prevention & Advisory
- Identify emerging fraud trends, modus operandi, and market risks specific to Singapore.
- Provide input on fraud prevention strategies, controls, and process improvements.
- Participate in fraud awareness initiatives and training for Claims and other business units.
- Support data driven fraud initiatives, including red flag rules and analytics where applicable.
Job Requirements:
- Education & Professional Background
- Diploma or Degree in Criminal Justice, Law, Accounting, Insurance, Risk Management, or related disciplines.
- Professional certifications (e.g. CFE, AICLA, ANZIIF, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Experience
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience in SIU, claims investigation, fraud investigation, law enforcement, loss adjusting, or related fields.
- Strong experience with insurance fraud investigations, preferably within the Singapore market.
- Hands on exposure to motor and/or general insurance claims is highly preferred.
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to assess credibility, inconsistencies, and fraud indicators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear investigation reports.
- Sound understanding of claims processes, policy interpretation, and legal considerations.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Language & Market Knowledge
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) & Mandarin
- Good understanding of Singapore insurance practices, regulatory environment, and local fraud trends.
- Other Requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations concurrently.
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork and interviews when required.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Team player - able to collaborate and co-ordinate with Claims Team members
