Equity Investment Analyst - Industrials & Cyclicals | Global Long/Short Hedge Fund

I am partnering with a high-performing global long/short equity hedge fund that is looking to hire an Equity Investment Analyst to join its growing team, with a focus on industrials, cyclicals, hardware, and related sectors.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the CIO and senior investment team, the successful candidate will focus on global equities across cyclical, industrial, hardware, and related sectors, covering the full investment lifecycle from idea generation and fundamental research through to recommendation, execution support, and ongoing monitoring.
This will include sourcing ideas, building conviction through detailed company and sector analysis, presenting recommendations, and tracking positions through earnings, corporate events, and market developments.

Key Responsibilities

Generate differentiated long and short investment ideas across global public equities.
Conduct in-depth company, sector, and industry research to identify mispriced opportunities.
Build detailed bottom-up financial models, including scenario analysis, valuation frameworks, and sensitivity work.
Present investment recommendations to the CIO and investment team with clarity, discipline, and conviction.
Produce concise investment memos, stock notes, and post-earnings updates.
Track portfolio companies, competitors, supply chains, corporate events, and relevant macro or sector developments.
Participate actively in investment debates and contribute to decision-making discussions.
Develop independent views on major stock and sector calls.
Work in close partnership with the investment team to refine ideas, challenge assumptions, and improve the research process.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an exceptional investment professional with strong analytical ability, sound commercial judgement, and the ambition to build a long-term career in hedge fund investing.
The ideal candidate will have2-5+ years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or public markets investing, gained from a hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank, equity research team, or another highly regarded investment platform. Exposure tocyclicals, industrials, hardware, technology hardware, manufacturing, semiconductors, automation, supply chain, or related sectors would be highly relevant.
Strong financial modelling, valuation, and accounting skills are essential, alongside the ability to think independently, form well-supported investment views, and communicate them clearly. This role will suit someone who can defend an investment thesis with conviction, while remaining intellectually honest and open to challenge.
The successful candidate will bring a strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, genuine passion for markets, and a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Fluency inEnglish and Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
