Ex-Credit Suisse banker who escaped before its collapse just left Moelis

Getting to a boutique bank like Moelis & Co is the peak of most M&A bankers’ careers. And getting to a boutique straight after leaving Credit Suisse just a few months before its implosion seems such a great stroke of luck that one is permanently grateful. But some people, apparently, just can’t be satisfied.

Johan Dubbeldeman joined JPMorgan this month, as a managing director (MD) in its investment banking team based in Amsterdam. He joined JP from Moelis, where he spent three and a half years as one of two MDs in its Amsterdam office, covering Benelux clients.

Before Moelis, Dubbeldeman was at Credit Suisse and Rothschild. His times at both were pretty active, being credited with numerous deals across 2021 especially, including the $2bn acquisition of Intertrust Group by CSC Global.

Dubbeldeman left Credit Suisse in September 2022 after just a year at the firm, and just six months before the firm began to collapse. That collapse – and its subsequent takeover by UBS – led to substantial job cuts that created piles of refugees from the firm. They’ve ended up some interesting places, from private equity firms to rival banks to the public sector. Getting to a boutique bank before the collapse was a bit of a coup for Dubbeldeman, in hindsight.
