Morgan Stanley's ex-head of STIR trading married a Barclays trader and it was lavish
This is not a guide to how to get a job in trading. Nor is it a guide to how to achieve a large bonus. It is a sign that if you have a dual income household comprised of two STIR (short term interest rate) traders at banks in London, you will be able to afford the sort of wedding that all your colleagues can attend and talk about for weeks after.

It's understood that this is the experience of Qiao Sun, Morgan Stanley's former global head of STIR trading and Lara Conway Yates, a director in rates trading at Barclays in London. The two are understood to have married at Lake Como in Italy last weekend, and much of the London trading world was in attendance.
There are no photographs of the wedding. However, there are photos of the pre-wedding, showing the two traders in Switzerland earlier this year. At the wedding itself, it's understood that there were items including a Mahjong table flown in specially from Macau.
Sun had ample time to prepare for the occasion. He left Morgan Stanley earlier this year and is enroute to hedge fund Millennium.
Sun and Conway Yates have the potential to start a new lineage of STIR traders. Together, they have 16 As at A and AS level between them.
They are understood to be one of several romances in the London STIR market. Other power couples are expected to be incentivised to engage in imminent lavish weddings too.
