A Deutsche Bank analyst joined Citadel aged 24. He recently left 13 years later

It's hot in London and Muzammil Abdoula is not at his desk. Nor do we know where he is instead.

Until recently, Abdoula was at Citadel, where he covered European financials as a portfolio manager on the equity long short team. He'd been there a long time, having joined from Deutsche Bank in 2012, aged 24.

Abdoula didn't respond to a request to comment on his whereabouts and Citadel declined to say anything too, but a regulatory filing yesterday said Citadel Hedge Fund Management Europe parted company with him yesterday as a partner. The FCA register says he in fact left in March.

Abdoula's long Citadel tenure contradicts the narrative of short lived hedge fund careers. He spent 11 years at the firm before becoming a partner in 2023.

Partners at Citadel are well compensated. Accounts filed for the year ending December 2024 show the average partner receiving $21m.

It's not clear where Abdoula, now aged 38, intends to go next. Presumably he's enjoying the sun.
