Rothschild MD in his 40s says he had two strokes and is off work
As junior bankers question the health risks of what can be gruelling lifestyles, one managing director in London has posted a reminder that it's not only young bankers who experience life-threatening health issues.

Writing on social media, Rory Cameron-Mowat, a managing director at Rothschild, says he had two strokes in December and is now off work until March. "It’s been a tough few months of recovery with seemingly endless tests, scans and procedures to try and understand why it happened so I’m keen to put it behind me," he adds.
Rothschild declined to comment on Cameron-Mowat's post. It's understood that he was not at work or in the office when the strokes occurred. Mowat is now seeking to spread awareness of the symptoms of strokes as he says he was initially misdiagnosed.
There is increased focus on the impact of demanding banking jobs on heart and circulatory health following the deaths of two Bank of America juniors last year and the death of a Jefferies associate in January.
Although some MDs in banking are accused of doing little work and smooching between client meetings, this is not typically the case. Instead, the role often involves a lot of travel and high pressure to originate deals. In 2008, Gavin MacDonald, the 47-year-old head of M&A at Morgan Stanley, died of a heart attack while working in the bank's office at Canary Wharf.
Cameron-Mowat plans to get back to work in March.
